Fancy Footwork Dance Project is thrilled to announce our participation in Dance Days 2026 with Dancer Studio West, presenting a brand‑new 10‑minute live stage work that brings together rhythm, voice, and community in an exciting new way.
This year’s creation is led by FFDP Founder and Artistic Director M’Kayla Kongnetiman, whose practice centers on rhythm as a deeply human experience. Joining her onstage are FFDP member Josie Walbridge, whose grounded musicality and presence anchor the movement, and percussionist Chantel Brodwick, bringing live rhythmic textures that shape the heartbeat of the piece. We are also honoured to feature Shah‑Kemm Kongnetiman (K.Beige), whose soulful vocals weave through the work and expand the emotional landscape of the performance.
Together, this ensemble is crafting a piece that blends tap, jazz, live percussion, and voice, an exploration of pulse, connection, and the shared rhythms that move us.
You can experience this new work as part of the Dance Days evening performances at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks on:
June 11, 12, and 13
Showtime: 7:30 PM
We’re grateful to Dancer Studio West for inviting Fancy Footwork into this year’s festival and for supporting the creation of new rhythm‑based performance in Mohkinstsis/Calgary. We can’t wait to share this work with you and celebrate the artists who make it possible.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move through the creation process, this is a special one.
